Tin Can Bay and Coolum Beach

As we were up and out early from Hervey Bay, we decided to take a small detour on our journey down to Coolum Beach and have lunch in Tin Can Bay, which had been recommended to us.

A lot of tours to nearby Fraser Island and dolphin feeding trips set out from Tin Can Bay, but as we had alreaded visited the former previously and to do the latter required a 5am start, we weren't going to be doing any tours!

We had lunch in a small park that was right at the tip of Tin Can Bay, so we were surrounded on three sides by the bay itself, which provided for stunning views whilst we ate.

We were soon on the road again, heading to Coolum Beach.  Unlike a lot of the towns we have driving through sporting the word 'beach' in the name, this town does run parallel to a long sandy beach and is large enough to have all of the required amenities.

We checked into our accommodation, the last place that we would stay before we left Australia.  The motel itself is very modern, with small but comfortable rooms and a treat that we haven't had so far on the trip, a swimming pool!

We dropped off our luggage and returned to the town to explore the shops and take a walk down the beach.  We then had a couple of drinks in the local beach side bar before returning to the motel for some dinner and a swim.

The evening was a quiet affair as we had early starts for the rest of our stay, so we just had a bottle of wine in a bar in town before turning in.

Tomorrow, we will be visiting the market in Eumundi and Noosa Heads.
